BTW I guess I hadn't mentioned this but my sister Esther and her baby Angie are staying with us for a few weeks/months/'til she and Liz can get an apartment.
Crawling nine months old ruin Christmas trees. Or at least assume that anything that's dangling must be taken down and put in your mouth. I can see why some people don't bother with Christmas trees when there's little ones around but dammit I don't have to baby proof yet!
We've done obvious things like move things out of the way and we're constantly sweeping and mopping the kitchen floor where she's always crawling but we need other options. I think a baby walker might be just the ticket, pop her in there and let her bump into things. Oddly enough I realized most of the bottom floor of the house is baby safe: washable slipcovers on the couch, no upholstered seats for her to barf on, everything's wipeable, the ottoman is soft so she won't bump into it, nothing has a glass top she can break. I guess when you cat proof, you're also baby proofing. Go figure.
