The Fall/Winter Remix

This feels like a let them eat cake post in the middle of the horrors of people not having enough money for food and a government shut down but as part of my efforts to embrace things that give me joy while scratching a creative itch here it be.

I love me some fashun.  I've said it before that the only thing that takes the sting out of summer ending for me is looking forward to all the fall fashion. I made this board in my attempts to stop online browsing to tell myself that I have all the goodies that I need to bring it with the outfits. This past year and change I've really fine tuned my body type fit and general grown-up style: black but also a mix of neutral colors but definitely some color, L.A. reppin', tailored, professor, rock n roll, feminine, and fun/on trend accessories. I was a big girl and had pants hemmed by a tailor even!

I am one for a trend yes, 100% but have decided if we're gonna go with a trend, it's gonna be in the accessories and jewelry department. I bought some fall neutral lettuce edge socks last year that I have worn to death and the trends this year of blinging up blazers, bags and even sneakers. Use what you got in this economy AM I RIGHT? Is this a recession indicator besties?

I started embracing the it color of the moment burgundy around winter this year and it's so great to add color during the dark days of winter. Luckily it's still hot in fall. I know... burgundy for fall... groundbreaking but it's great and it works and I love it OKAYY. Brunettes look good in red. Also BROWN. When done right, brown is so chic. Apologies for what I said when I was young.

I bought two sweaters for the winter/Christmas that will be part of another remix board I will make later one called to me from the internet like a siren and the other I fell for because bears are THE thing this Christmas. Think Ralph Lauren bear and that Starbucks barista bear. I remembered Nordstrom Rack exists and that's been a nightmare of willpower for me that I've held strong with other than aforementioned sweaters that I PROMISE is it.

I know that I got my first grey hair in college but somewhere after having babies the top of my head started being dusted with grey highlights. I look in the mirror every day and still see a brunette but the greys being noticeable was apparent when I emerged from the pandemic and get compliments on how great my hair and especially my greys looked. karlstad & sofa stuff

The sofa I really like from Ikea and not because it's reasonably priced is the karlstad sofa. It comes in lots of colors and bemz makes even more covers for it: Well what do you know it comes in a sectional form. Dark grey, slipcover, for the reasonable price of $999. Reasonable yes, cheap, no. Couches are expensive and we have to be nuts about it because we spend a great deal of time on it. Matt really just wants something to prop his feet up on and a sectional works great that way. I bought a larger ottoman at Target last week, one I'd been wanting for a long time but guess what, it's too small. It works great but I want a bigger one. I think the one I bought will go great in the office and I was thinking maybe we could add an ottoman that matches with the sofa like this one and you got a whole set of propping up your feet goodness. And IF we added a little side table ($20 at Target) for placing a beverage and remotes on, would that be the icing on the cake?

Well after much debating I went ahead and bought it. The Lemonshine Ombre Console  is going to be headed to Burbank to live in my office. The plan is laid out here. It would replace the standing TV cabinet and all of its contents would go inside of the new console, three floating shelves would go above it on the wall (they're already in the closet, just waiting, biding their time). Plus, I want all of the contents of the glass-front bookcase to fit inside that console as well and then get rid of the bookcase which while it pains me greatly to lose it since it's so nice and helpful, there would be no point in having it since the DVDs and books would go on those floating shelves above the cabinet. I want so badly to find another place in the house for it but guess what, my house is too dang small and we are maxed out on furniture in every room. Maybe I can give it to Ben to hold.
