the mrs

while i love my husband and love my new last name, i hate being referred to as mrs matt fredrich. what now that i am married i don't get a name but matt does? one of the only things i insisted upon at our wedding was that when the minister introduced us for the first time as a family, i wanted to hear mr and mrs fredrich or matt and evelyn fredrich. thankfully craig was hip to my feminism and did just as requested. i know it's an old school practice and it's some kind of tradition but screw tradition, i have a name you know, he's not the only one that matters. and moreso, when those invitations are sent out, who does all the work of the rsvp'ing, the buying of the present, the making sure he gets there on time to the event? the woman! i don't see dudes even opening those invites, they just see them and the woman opens it and takes care of everything. in fact, they should start addressing the invites as the woman's name first and then the dude's 'cause seriously, she does all the work when it comes to an event. i don't ever even put mr and mrs on invites, i give everyone their name.

give me mine.
